Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3: 12 – 13 (ESV)

I’ve been pondering this great passage from Hebrews recently. Passionate business executives, invested parents, hard core exercise enthusiasts pride themselves on not taking days off. Here, the author of Hebrews is encouraging devoted Christ followers to do something every day, as well: exhort one another.

When it comes to your relationships with one another, take encouragement up a notch. Plead with one another just short of begging to live the new life we have in Christ. Implore each other to avoid the stubborn and rebellious mindset of the Israelites who wandered in…
